4x4ft Barn Quilt - West Trail

Hanging at the Stafford Historical Museum and Town Hall, this barn quilt represents the Stafford Four Corners Historic District at the junction of Routes 5 and 237, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The district is a collection of six buildings of various types from the 19th century. It includes the oldest home in Genesee County and an 1841 clapboard-sided church. The quilt pattern uses the colors of the museum’s logo. Green was added to represent the importance of agriculture in Stafford.

The Stafford Museum of History was built in 2004 and is attached to the Town of Stafford Town Hall. The museum in one large room in which artifacts are well presented in nice display cabinets and information panels. This museum doesn’t try to show you everything, just some great representations of early settlement life in Western New York. The Morganville Pottery collection is popular with visitors. In the nearby hamlet of Morganville, a type of pottery was made that included a distinct reddish hue (from the local excavated clay). On your way out of the museum, check out their small gift shop area. Call ahead to schedule a visit to the museum. 585-343-1928.
