THE HOLLAND LAND OFFICE MUSEUM
T ake a step back in time and follow the footsteps of those who
led the way to modern times in Genesee County. The Holland Land
Office Museum is housed in the original 1815 Holland Land Company
office, where the original 3.5 million-acres of Western New York land
was surveyed and sold. Thousands of historical documents and
artifacts are preserved here in honor of Genesee County's integral
role as the birthplace of Western New York. Today, visitors can tour
multiple rooms of exhibits including a pioneer kitchen, a significant
Civil War display, as well as an entire room devoted to the Seneca
Nation and Native Americans in Western New York.

THE BATAVIA PEACE GARDEN
J ust steps away from the Holland Land Office BOOK & GIFT SHOP!
Museum is the Batavia Peace Garden. This
beautiful garden, built and managed by community
volunteers, commemorates the War of 1812 and
Batavia's major role in holding back the British
after the city of Buffalo burned. Modeled on the
International Peace Garden concept, it’s a physical
reminder of the peace that has existed between
the U.S. and Canada for the past 200 years. There
are 21 flags flying in the garden, representing each
country that has a peace garden.
Sit back and relax on one of the garden’s benches Open Tuesday - Saturday
while admiring the many beautiful flowers. Take a 10am-4pm
self-guided tour anytime from May to October or
