Tourism Marketing Assistant Position

The Genesee County Chamber of Commerce, serving as the official tourism promotion agency for Genesee County, NY is seeking an experienced marketing professional to assist in the overall Chamber tourism and marketing initiatives for Genesee County. 

Areas of responsibility include, but not limited to:

Collaborate - with Tourism Director and various partners to create and expand tourism programs.

Content Development - Create and manage content for use on tourism websites, social channels, newsletters, and marketing materials. Write copy for print and online channels.

Social Media Marketing – Support tourism marketing with working knowledge of social channels such as Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. Work with Chamber marketing team on paid social media campaigns.

Collateral Development – Work with Tourism Director, contracted designers and related vendors to develop and proof collateral materials.

Asset Management – Maintain up to date information on tourism online inventory. Manage contacts and associated lists, image and video libraries and general data maintenance.

Business to Business - Represent Genesee County tourism and related regional programs at business marketplaces and other B2B sales events as it relates to the tourism industry (motor coach operators; travel agents). Prepare presentation materials, display set up, organize and report back leads from these events.

Consumer Sales – Represent Genesee County tourism and related regional programs at consumer travel shows and special events to promote Genesee County travel. Online promotions as well as, in person and in print consumer sales promotions.

Customer Service – Perform outstanding customer service as it relates to interacting with all audiences. Hospitality is our primary industry.

Visitor Center – Assist guests, maintain inventory and track related statistics for use in reporting. Maintain general upkeep and presentation of the space.

Additional duties as needed.

Full time 37.5 hours (M-F 8:30-4:30), occasional nights and weekends required. Ability to travel domestically and to Canada is required several times a year.

 

Required Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
• Social media marketing experience
• Excellent written, oral communications skills and public speaking skills
• Enjoys a fast-paced work environment and can effectively manage time to complete projects with deadlines
• Has an outgoing and friendly personality
• Be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently

 

Preferred Skills

• 1+ years’ marketing experience in a tourism or hospitality related field
• Experience with editing and design software (Adobe Suite, Photoshop, etc.)
• Experience with Constant Contact, Facebook Ads Manager & Powerpoint

 

Starting Salary Rang & Benefits

• $37,000 - $40,000 (based on experience)
