About Gene Gordon:

Gene taught science around Rochester for over 30 years - eventually creating a NASA research class which would lead to his students creating projects that would fly to the International Space Station. Gene has flown on board NASA’s Zero-G plane (TWICE!) and used that experience to help others understand the world around them.
Gene became the President of the Science Teachers Association of STANYS in 2015, where he took part in the creation of the new NY science standards. This year he received the 2023 Margaret Ashida STEM Leadership Award as well as the highest honor in STANYS, by being named a STANYS Fellow.
Although Gene retired from teaching in 2018, he did not fade into the woodwork. Asked to join NASA HUNCH as the New York State Mentor, he has dreams of having students from all over New York State designing and building things for space. "
