Prepare for winter yourself by shopping the Holiday Market, and see how Western New Yorkers prepared for winter in the 19th century. The perfect family activity to kick off the holiday season!
Take part in 19th-century winter ready-making
Stroll through the Historic Village where preparations are underway for the snowy season ahead. Explore historic homes, warm up beside a hearth, enjoy roasted chestnuts, and more! From preserving food to preparing warm garments, there’s much to be done around the Historic Village this November. Make sure to pay a visit to Hosmer’s Inn to enjoy the aromas of smoking meats in the Smoke House and sausage-making in the basement kitchen, blacksmithing, candle making, and so much more.
Visitors can join guest cultural educator Tonia Galban for a hands-on activity corn cake making, see blacksmithing, lard rendering, wood carving, making winter clothes, sampling of historic foods like mincemeat pies, learn about maple sugaring, and more.
Shop a cheerful Holiday Market
Shop hand-crafted and locally-produced goods at our Holiday Market. From a multitude of art, food, and gift vendors representing the very best from Western New York, and just in time for seasonal gift-giving! Visitors can peruse unique gift items and village-made goods in the Flint Hill Store.

Find a number of adorable seasonal sets to take a winter family photo as you explore the Historic Village! This year visitors will enjoy seasonal selfie stations at the Post Office and the Law Office.
