CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT: Poison, Cheap Trick coming to Darien Lake

Apr 9, 2018

DARIEN CENTER — They may no longer have that signature long, flowing hair, but the group once dubbed the greatest hair metal band of the 1980s is coming to Darien Lake.

LiveNation announced Monday morning that Poison, along with special guests Cheap Trick and Pop Evil, will play the Darien Lake Amphitheater on June 26 as part of the Nothin’ But A Good Time tour.

Poison has seen some lineup changes over the years, but the foursome responsible for the group’s biggest hits is back together. They are Bret Michaels (lead vocals), Rikki Rockett (drums) , Bobby Dall (bass) and C.C. DeVille (lead guitar).

“The all-original Poison is headlining again this summer,” Michaels said in a press release. “It’s going to be a mega concert and party combined. We will be playing all the hits and bringing high energy rock ‘n’ roll good times. I promise this will be awesome.”

Poison launched itself into the spotlight with its 1986 debut album, “Look What the Cat Dragged In,” and followed that up with two more multi-platinum albums. They had a No. 1 single with “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” off of the 1988 album, “Open Up and Say ... Ahh!.”

Two years removed from its induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cheap Trick is still going strong after 40 years. The band is best known for hits like “I Want You To Want Me” and “The Flame.”

Tickets for the show range from $29.50 to $99.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through LiveNation.com, Ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
