Genesee Community College invites the public to the second of four scheduled presentations in the new Historical Horizons Lecture Series. The lecture is presented by Kristopher D. White, an adjunct professor of history at Allegany Community College, co-founder of Emerging Civil War online journal and the author of “Season of Slaughter: The Battle of Spotsylvania Court House.” His talk entitled, “Hell’s Half-Acre: The Bloody Angle at Spotsylvania,” will cover the story of the bloody battle at Spotsylvania and the innovative tactics used to break the Confederate lines. He will tell the horrific tales from the men who were trapped in a no-man’s land between two armies. Professor White will have copies of his book for sale and will be available to sign them.

Historical Horizons is sponsored by GCC’s new History Club and was developed from the success of the Civil War Initiative which featured dozens of events throughout the past three years commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. This fall, a different historical lecture is scheduled on the first Wednesday of the month.
