2024 Total Solar Eclipse

On Monday, April 8, 2024, there will be a total solar eclipse, and Genesee County is in the direct path of totality. A total solar eclipse occurs when the new Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and totally blocks out the sun.

Experience this once in a lifetime event in Genesee County, where totality will last for 3 minutes and 42 seconds. During totality, the sky becomes dark, bright stars and planets appear, and the Sun’s outer atmosphere shines around the black disk of the Moon’s silhouette.
