The Batavia Peace Garden is one of several dedicated in 2012 to mark the bicentennial of the War of 1812. According to the Foundation’s website, these gardens celebrate the 200 years of peace and long-standing friendship between the United States and Canada. That friendship is marked on the first stone along the walkway with engravings of an eagle and a maple leaf. That’s where my walkthrough began.
