BATAVIA — It’s that time of year again to eat some good food, listen to live music, stroll past several vintage automobiles and go for a run to raise money for a good cause.

Summer in the City is set for 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday throughout downtown. More than 45 food, craft, commercial and nonprofit vendors will be set up, along with some 350 classic cars and motorcycles.

The Ohms Band will play from 1 to 3 p.m. on the main stage, followed by In Plain View from 4 to 6 p.m. and Terry Buchwald’s altar ego Elvis Presley from 7 to 9 p.m.

A Kidz Zone will provide many fun activities for children and families throughout the day and the annual Don Carroll 5K Race & Walk will take off at 6:15 p.m.

All race proceeds help to make Christmas wishes come true for disadvantaged children. The entry fee includes a “Party Extravaganza!” which includes music, dancing, a chicken barbecue, turkey dogs, pizza, yogurt, fresh fruit, ice cold water and a beer coupon. Guests are $5.

The day will also feature United Memorial Medical Center’s yearly free Community Health Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. under the tent at Cary Hall, 211 East Main St.

There will be refreshments, giveaways and raffles, health information and free screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, and total cholesterol. Men’s prostate health checks will be offered from 2 to 4 p.m.
