LE ROY — Sweet Betty’s on Main Street is offering something sweet for people to eat.
Although it opened in August 2020, Sweet Betty’s finally conducted its ribbon cutting Wednesday afternoon.
Owners Gabrielle and Scott Keister opened Sweet Betty’s because their kids are grown and they wanted something to do. Initially, it was just going to be ice cream and candy. Then they decided to branch out.
“We had plenty of time,” Gabrielle Keister said. “We bought the place during COVID and we couldn’t open.”
They added draft beer, slushies and a full menu with sandwiches, wraps, salads and deserts. Gabrielle Keister said that although it was awkward opening during the pandemic, they don’t know any different. Their workers are 15- and 16-year-olds who are working their first jobs.
Sweet Betty’s is themed rather retro, and Scott Keister said a lot of the wall art is pieces customers gave them.
“We got some great customers,” Gabrielle Keister said. “We have some repeat customers, and also go to tables and ask, ‘Where are you from? What brings you here?’ A lot of times, they came here for Sweet Betty’s.
“We got a lot of good reviews on Facebook,” she said. “I think we’re doing pretty good.”
Sweet Betty’s name was inspired by Gabrielle Keister’s nickname “Betty” and the fact the location was originally just selling sweets.
Located at 15 Main St. in Le Roy, Sweet Betty’s winter hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
