“The Deadliest Catch” continues to churn through the waters of reality television, luring viewers and critical acclaim alike. Following the dramatic 11th season of the Discovery Channel show that profiles Alaskan fishermen, the show has received four nominations for the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
Batavia natives Thom Beers and Josh Earl are again up for awards for their work on the show. Beers, the creator of the series, is listed for the Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program award, while Earl, a supervising editor, is once again nominated for Outstanding Picture Editing for Reality Programming.
Beers has taken home two trophies, as “Catch” won variations of “Best Reality Program” in 2011 and 2014. It has been nominated eight times.
This is Earl’s seventh nomination for the picture editing award. He has taken home the trophy each of the past four years. Earlier this year, Earl was nominated for the fifth time for an American Cinema Editors Award. He had won the award in 2010, but lost out this year.
“The Deadliest Catch” has also been nominated for Outstanding Sound Mixing and Outstanding Cinematography.
The 2015 Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony will be held Sept. 12 in Los Angeles and will be broadcast Sept. 19 on FXX.
