BATAVIA — The new Kohl’s department store in Batavia will conduct its grand opening and ribbon cutting at 8:45 a.m. March 6, the company announced Tuesday. The Batavia location, at 4170 Veterans Memorial Dr., is in the Batavia Towne Center plaza. It will be the retail chain’s 51st store in New York state. The new store is approximately 57,000 square feet and will employ about 100 people. Kohl’s merchandise line includes casual and dress apparel, beauty products, footwear, linens, furniture, athletic gear, jewelry and items for the home, kitchen and bath. Kohl’s Batavia location was constructed with the chain’s most recent store design to “provide customers with an easy shopping experience,” the company stated in a news release. Features include updates of the beauty department, check-out stations, shopping carts and strollers. It also has redesigned fitting rooms, an expanded customer service area, in-store kiosks, electronic signs for each department and free wireless access for mobile devices. The Batavia store is also a prototype built to meet criteria for certification by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. That means the facility will be rated as energy efficient and was constructed with more than 20 percent recycled materials and regionally-sourced building supplies. The company’s Kohl’s Cares merchandise line also helps raise money for local non-profit organizations. It’s donated more than $1 million to Buffalo’s Women & Children’s Hospital in the past decade. Kohl’s is based in Menomee Falls, Wisc. It has 1,162 stores in 49 states, according to the company. The corporation’s stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under KSS. It was selling at $68.92 per share on Tuesday afternoon. Article from the Batavia Daily News and taken from http://www.thedailynewsonline.com/news/article_cc487316-b6d8-11e4-a986-4bdc292829e1.html
