‘Home to Home’ concerts return to Jackson Square

Jun 2, 2022

BATAVIA — The Home to Home Concert Series For the Common Good will be performing at Jackson Square.

Bill and Kay McDonald, who perform as the Old Hippies, have partnered with the Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council and Friends of the Batavia Peace Garden to bring everyone two free concerts at Jackson Square, a converted alley between Jackson and Center streets. The concerts are scheduled for 7 p.m. June 17 and 2 p.m. June 26.

Featured local artists performing will be the Old Hippies, Ghost Riders, Deanna Spiotta, Don Thomas, and a selection talented youth and seasoned artists.

For those unable to attend in person, the shows will be offered through a livestream on Bill McDonald’s Facebook page.

The series originally began as a weekly series of live Facebook performances by the Old Hippies. The duo performed from the living room of their Florida home (the McDonalds are snowbirds) in spring 2020 when most people were stuck at home – many consumed by worry and starved for live entertainment – because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They played more than 60 consecutive Saturdays — sometimes with multiple shows a day — from their homes in Florida and Batavia, and other locations throughout the pandemic.

Last summer the Home to Home concerts expanded to included a series of dates in Jackson Square.
