The Genesee County Legislature agreed Wednesday to allow a film crew to shoot movie and advertising footage in Genesee County Park in East Bethany.
GMR Marketing was hired by Rolling Hills Asylum, the reputed ghost-friendly former Genesee County Home at Raymond and Bethany Center roads. Rolling Hills is adjacent to the County Park and it wants to film characters in costume on park property.
The production company will pay $100 special events fee to the county. GMR is slated to film today and Friday.
Rolling Hills is owned by Sharon Coyle, who partnered this summer with Liveparanormal.com to host a paranormal social. The event was promoted as taking place at “one of the most haunted places in the country.’’
Coyle offers ghost hunts and other paranormal activities and also hosts tours. The sprawling brick complex was built in 1827 as the County Poor House and has been featured on television shows on SyFy and other cable channels.
One of Rolling Hills’ promotion for this fall is “weekend quarantined,” where patrons are locked in the facility for 10 hours.
GMR Marketing, according to the company website, www.gmrmarketing.com, is an international advertising firm that does multi-media consumer marketing and also promotes sports, music and entertainment. It has a presence in North America, Europe and Asia.
The company has won numerous advertising awards, including one in 2011 from MillerCoors Agency for its commercial, “Miller Lite Vets.”
GMR was also named 2011 sports and entertainment agency of the year by the trade publication, “Promo Magazine.”
