Delicious annual event returns to Woodward

Feb 6, 2012

LE ROY — It’s an opportunity to indulge your sweet tooth and that of a special someone and support the Woodward Memorial Library, 7 Wolcott St., at the same time.

The library’s annual Dessert in the Stacks event is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the library. Tickets are $5 and, said Library Director Sue Border, give those who attend a generous sample of desserts from local restaurants, bakeries and caterers.

“Creme puffs, cherry cheesecake, scones, assorted brownies, double chocolate cake, carrot cake, chocolate candies and mini cupcakes are a few of the sweet treats offered at ‘Dessert’ night,” Border says.

Donating from Le Roy are D&R Depot Restaurant, Red Osier Landmark Restaurant, Le Roy Country Club, Scratch Bakery, Java’s on Main, Susan Presher and Tops Market.

Also donating are Wegmans of Brockport, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Oliver’s and Bohn’s Restaurant in Batavia, Heavenly Sweets in Pavilion, Sweet Ecstasy in Stafford, Village Inn in Caledonia and Greg’ry’s in Bergen.

“Last year, those who attended voted for their favorite dessert,” Border says. “The winner was D&R Depot’s creme puffs with chocolate sauce and whipped topping. This favorite will be served again this year.”

A triple berry pie from Scratch Bakery will be raffled off during the evening.

The event is adults only and tickets can be purchased at the front desk of the library.
