DARIEN CENTER — Following its successful revival last year, Darien Lake has made the decision to bring back free theme park admission for concert goers in 2018.
Darien Lake and Live Nation made the announcement Wednesday morning.
During the summer concert series, anyone who purchases a concert ticket will be granted free admission to the theme park on the day of the show. This was standard when the Performing Arts Center opened, but was later discontinued. Park officials brought it back last summer in celebration of the 25th season in the PAC.
“This was truly the deal of the summer last year, and we couldn’t be happier to be partnering again with the theme park to bring the best value in entertainment in Western New York” said Jim Koplik, Live Nation President of Upstate New York and Connecticut, in a press release.
Live Nation has already announced two shows for the summer concert series. Kesha and Macklemore will perform on July 22, while Niall Horan with Maren Morris will take the stage on Sept. 7. More concerts are expected to be announced soon, including the ever popular Country Mega Ticket.
Theme park visitors will also have something new to try this year with the Tantrum, a 98-foot vertical roller coaster. It is the eighth roller coaster at Darien Lake, which is nicknamed the roller coaster capital of New York State.
“We’re excited to partner with Live Nation to offer free same day park admission for concert-goers again this season and know we will thrill them with our new Tantrum coaster, ensuring all guests can rock and ride all summer long,” said Chris Thorpe, General Manager of Darien Lake Theme Park.
Opening day for Darien Lake has yet to be announced, but it typically in May.
