ALEXANDER — The 10th annual Chris Martin Field of Dreams archery shoot fundraiser takes place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 16.
Three-dimensional targets will be set up in the woods next to the Field of Dreams, which is behind Alexander Central School, Buffalo Street.
Cost is $10 per person. No pre-registration is required.
Signs with directions to the site will be posted at the school, for those not familiar with the Field of Dreams.
The Field of Dreams is a complex of athletic facilities used by Alexander Central School and community recreation programs. It is owned by a non-profit organization that was created in memory of 15-year-old Chris Martin of Alexander, who was killed in 1995 when he was struck by a car while riding a go-cart.
The archery course is set up to cater to bow hunters who have limited experience with 3-D target shooting but is also a challenge for experienced archers. Each contestant shoots at 30 targets.
Food and beverages will be available and there will also be raffles and prizes.
The annual Field of Dreams event usually attracts more than 100 entrants.
Anyone who would like to donate to the non-profit Field of Dreams can send a check to The Chris Martin Field of Dreams, P.O. Box 236, Alexander, NY 14005.
