Genesee County will receive a rare and significant gift in the near future, a collection of letters written by one of Batavia’s most famous native sons, Civil War Union Army General Emory Upton. County Historian Susan Conklin said Georgia writer Sal Cilella will donate 13 letters Upton wrote to other Union generals and other Army officials, both during and after the Civil War.
