The Museum Quilt Guild will hold its biennial quilt show,  STITCHES IN TIME 2016, on October 14th  and 15th at the Alexander Fireman’s Recreation Hall, 10708 Alexander Rd/Route 98, in Alexander, New York. Visitors to the show will enjoy seeing approximately 190 quilts, made by guild members, from modern art quilts to traditional quilts, large and small, which will be on display on Friday, the 14th , from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday, the 15th, from 10 am to 5 pm. The location provides plenty of parking with the entire show, including vendors, a boutique, a silent auction, and demonstrations, all on one floor. Admission is $5 per person with free admission for children 10 and under.

An opportunity quilt, “Parisian Parasols”, adapted from Judy Neimeyer’s “Raindrops” was coordinated by guild member Mary Lowe, with blocks made by members of the guild. Jewel-tone batik fabrics set against a black background give this contemporary quilt spectacular drama. Generously quilted by Val Schultz, it will be displayed at the show and will be awarded at 4 pm on Saturday.

The monies raised from the Quilt Show are used to donate to the Veterans Administration, the Holland Land Office Museum and a very active Community Service Program. Through the Community Service Program, many quilts are made and donated each year to organizations such as All Babies Cherished, the YWCA for their Domestic Violence Shelter, St. Luke's Mission of Mercy, Batavia Agri-Business Child Development Center, and local nursing homes. The Museum Quilt Guild also donates quilts to other fund raisers, such as Habitat for Humanity, Genesee ARC, Gillam-Grant Community Center and Home Care and Hospice."
